Vibrocompaction and drilling services

The use of drains in the field of hydraulic or civil engineering involves a variety of problems for which it is necessary to disregard the extent of the work and simply adhere to the purposes of the same. The use of horizontal or sub-horizontal drainage by means of PVC or stainless steel micro-textured pipes, in combination with other types of work in the subsoil, can permanently stabilize landslide movements.

Vertical drainage is used to accelerate the consolidation of road embankments, to drain soils behind bulkheads, berms and in the consolidation of slopes and embankments

Ground Vibrocompaction

Vibrocompaction is carried out by inserting small diameter metal pipes with a foot valve into the soil by means of hydraulic vibrators of considerable power at variable frequency, creating a thickening of the soil and increasing its bearing capacity.

In the phase of extraction of the pipes, in order to maintain the new state of the ground, inert material is introduced, sand or gravel, or concrete with a low cement content.

Horizontal "Hose Pusher" Drilling

Also this sector of the underground works is included in the activity of Marini Ermenegildo S.p.A., present with equipment of its own design and experimentation that allow the insertion of metallic pipes without problems of length of the bars, rapidity of excavation, absence of the thrust wall, lack of personnel in the "pit" for a greater safety in the operation in case of crossings of water courses.

The most used diameters are 600 - 800 - 1000 - 1200 - 1400; the lengths of the crossings depend on the type of soil.

Drainage

The drains are made with the techniques of drilling from small diameter and consist of drainage pipes in PVC microfessurato covered with geotextile fabric, placed subhorizontal in the hole preconstituted to allow the discharge of water into the external environment.

They are particularly useful and their use produces a twofold effect

it improves the mechanical characteristics of the soil

  • reduces the hydraulic thrust on the bulkheads.

Anchor Tie Rods

  • Learn more

    They make it possible to anchor an existing structure (bulkhead, sheet piling, wall, slabs, etc.) to the ground behind or below. Executed with the techniques of the realization of micropiles, the tie-rods are substantially composed of:

    reinforcement in steel bar or steel strands drowned in its deep part (anchor bulb) in grout or cement mortar and protected by a plastic sheath in the upper part (free part) inside which it is free to slide;

    anchorage bulb, is the part of the tie rod integral with the ground on which the friction forces act;

    free part, is the part of the tie rod that connects the bulb with the anchor head;

    Anchor head, one of the most important and delicate parts of the tie rod, makes the end of the same integral with the structure to be pulled; it rests on beams of distribution in metal or concrete carpentry and is composed of anchor plates crossed by strands which are tightened to the plate with a system of bushings and knurled wedges.

    In the case of permanent ties, the head is protected with caps for a perfect protection of its constituent elements and to ensure the possibility of subsequent stringing.

    Depending on the durability of the work, the ties can be temporary or permanent and the differences are inherent in the protection of the reinforcement.

    Tie-rods, like micropiles, can be valved, with internal valving (valved tube inside the tie-rod) or external valving (valved tube coupled to the tie-rod); tie-rods valved with IRS, due to the effect of grout filtration, guarantee greater adherence of the bulb to the ground.

    The tests on the tie rods, according to AICAP recommendations or UNI EN, are carried out using hydraulic jacks with recording of the elongation data for each pulling step: compliance with the prescribed conditions is the only element that guarantees the perfect functionality of the anchor rods. The posthumous control can however be carried out by monitoring the tie rod through load cells.

    There are many variants in the field of anchors, some depending on the type of reinforcement used (self-drilling bars, GRP reinforcement, nails, etc.) others depending on the characteristics of the soil (use of obturator bags, use of additives in the injection mixtures, anchors under the water table made with a preventer system, etc.).
